Hi, I'm hoping someone might have experience with taking their dogs running. I started running last July and whenever I go for a run I take Ozzy, and he has a run instead of a walk. He still gets his other walk later (or earlier) as normal. He seems to enjoy it and we hadn't had any problems. However, I'm now in the realms of running for 1hour plus, hoping to up it to 1:30 hour plus in the next couple of weeks (I'm training for a Half Marathon) and I'm starting to wonder if it could become too much for Ozzy. This is probably silly of me as he is ten times fitter than I am. I'm sure he would refuse to carry on running if he'd be in pain or uncomfortable. I also keep a close eye on him whilst running so if he would start limping or to fall back because of fatigue rather than an interesting smell I would of course stop straight away. The things I'm more wondering about are dehydration and long term joint issues. I guess a working dog would work much harder than Ozzy, and be a lot more active so they are obviously capable of doing it?! Any experience? Anything I should keep in mind when taking Ozzy running on longer runs on a regular basis? Thanks I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
